Lee's Summit holds its edge while buyers gain ground
While the broader Kansas City metro is moving toward a relaxed equilibrium, Lee's Summit remains one of Jackson County's most resilient, high-demand pockets. Supported by top-rated school districts, vibrant local amenities, and steady suburban growth, Lee's Summit isn't showing a dramatic cooling off. Instead, it's holding onto its competitive edge while giving buyers a slightly fairer shot at negotiations.

Topeka developer seeks Lauren's Bay tax breaks he once opposed
Topeka developer Chuck Dultmeier is asking for tax incentives he once advocated against when another developer asked for the same ones. During the July 21 meeting, the Topeka City Council approved sending a Reinvestment Housing Incentive District application for Dultmeier Rollenhagen LLC to the secretary of commerce for review. This is the first step to securing tax incentives for Dultmeier's company. Eight and a half months ago, when the same properties were owned by developer Jim Klausman, Dultmeier questioned the idea of turning the land into an RHID. "(Klausman's) going to go after that RHID," Dultmeier said in the Nov. 5 city meeting . "Which means the city has already not collected taxes on that for 15 years and we've got another 20 years to go now. Because he's going to take the RHID. That's not what the program was built about. It was built to entice developers to build infrastructure in smaller towns." Dultmeier said the city would be selling out if it gave Klausman the deal because that land is "too valuable." Controversy looms over Lauren's Bay in Topeka Eugene "Gene" Jani Jr.'s Brainstorm Development Group initiated Lauren's Bay in the area west of S.W. 47th and Wanamaker

The practices stay put, but the landlord now has a decidedly institutional profile.
