Man arrested after being found asleep behind the wheel while possessing meth
LIVE OAK, Fla. (WCJB) - Deputies in Suwannee County arrested a man after they found him sleeping in a parking lot with meth. Deputies say they found Jerahme Campbell, 41, on Saturday sleeping behind the wheel of a parked vehicle at a store at the intersection of US 1-29 and Bass Road in Live Oak. They say this was the 2nd time they found him asleep at the same location that day.

Feral Creature Attacking People in Northern Florida Revealed to Be Housecat
A feral cat is on the loose in a northern Florida community, evading local authorities after two attacks that sent two people to the emergency room. “During two separate incidents, residents exercising and walking on 174th Street were attacked by a feral cat,” the Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement posted to Facebook Wednesday. “Both residents received injuries serious enough that they had to seek medical treatment at local hospitals.” According to the post, local animal control set traps in the areas of the attacks, but attempts to locate the cat have been “unsuccessful at this time.” Little information is known about the felonious feline—the sheriff’s office says it’s not able to determine if the cat is truly wild or an escaped housecat, possibly infested with rabies, until it is caught.Read it at The Guardian

Forecast: A few isolated showers for Memorial Day Weekend
Our Friday is shaping up to be a near carbon copy of our Thursday as we will be tracking showers and thunderstorms through the early afternoon and continuing through sunset. We already had showers develop along a stationary boundary draped across southern Collier and Hendry Counties. However, we expect rain to start to develop near downtown Ft. Myers and Cape Coral just past the lunch hour. Similar to yesterday, storms will start near and east of I-75 and build as they move inland. Through the mid-afternoon, storms become more robust west of I-75. Temperatures are expected to only climb to the upper 80s due to rain chances.
Hammer-throwing suspect identified
Authorities have identified the man who threw a hammer into a window of the Columbia County Tax Collector’s Office earlier this month. According to a Lake City Police Department release, 24-year-old Alexis Guzman Gomez, of Wellborn, was identified as the suspect following social media posts asking for help in identifying the man, who also broke out the driver’s side door window to an employee’s car around lunchtime May 12.
