Cedar Rapids man sentenced to 50 years in prison for death of co-worker's roommate
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — A Cedar Rapids man accused of killing his co-worker's roommate last year has been sentenced to 50 years in prison. On February 15, Brannon Johnson was drinking alcohol and watching TV with his co-worker at an apartment located at the 2100 block of Buckingham Drive Northwest.

Update: Cedar Rapids home has heat damage after garage fire
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - The Cedar Rapids Fire Department says a home has heat damage to its exterior after a detached garage caught fire Wednesday night. Crews were called to the 100-block of 21st Street SW near Garfield Elementary at 8:50 p.m. and found the garage on fire and the house exposed to the flames. Firefighters used hose lines to put out the fire before it could damage the inside of the home.
