Inmate, prison staff sickened by unknown substance
ANAMOSA, Iowa — An inmate at the Anamosa State Penitentiary is recovering after authorities say they were exposed to some kind of substance. It happened around 11:30pm Saturday night when security and medical staff were called to one of the living units. When they arrived, an inmate was unconcious and appeared to be under the influence of something. Narcan was administered befor the inmate was taken to the hospital for additional care. The inmate was treated and returned to the prison.

Senior guard Gabbie Marshall’s lights-out shooting boosted the Iowa women’s basketball team over Georgia in their second-round matchup on Sunday. The Cincinnati, Ohio, native finished with 15 points on 5-of-8 from beyond the 3-point line in the 74-66 win — 12 of those points came in the second quarter alone, in which she shot 4-for-4 from deep. She hammered the Bulldogs’ zone defense, remaining patient in the corners for the zone to break down and her teammates to swing the ball her way.

The second-seeded Iowa Hawkeyes defeated the 10-seeded Georgia Lady Bulldogs, 74-66, at a sold-out Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Sunday. Iowa guard Caitlin Clark scored 22 points and collected 12 assists in the victory. “I really did not want to let this team lose again in this round,” Clark said. “And I knew I needed to step up and make plays for this team. And I thought I was able to pick up their zone with my eyes and get the ball inside.”
