    Officials trying to ID remains after fiery fatal crash

    PARKE COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — One person has died following a single vehicle crash that left their car in a wooded area and on fire.

    Law enforcement said the remains have yet to be positively identified.

    According to Parke County Sheriff Jason Frazier, deputies were called to the scene of the crash at 4:39 a.m. Monday after a passerby had spotted a vehicle on fire in the woods along S.R. 47 near C.R. 750 N near Marshall, Indiana.

    Frazier said after the fire was put out it was learned that human remains were inside. Frazier said speed and drugs are believed to be contributors to the crash.

    Sheriff Frazier thanked the Marshall Fire Department, Parke County EMS, and the Parke County Coroner’s Office for assistance at the scene.
