    Police: Person hit, killed by train in Marion

    MARION, Va. (WJHL) – The Marion Police Department is investigating after a person was hit and killed by a train.

    According to a news release from Marion town spokesperson Ken Heath, officers responded to the train tracks near the Church Street bridge Wednesday morning.

    Human remains found in Kingsport identified as missing Hawkins Co. man

    Marion Police Chief John Clair reported the person struck by the train appeared to be from out of the state and was using the railway to travel.

    The identity of the deceased will not be released until their next of kin has been notified.

    In addition to police, Norfolk Southern Railway officials were also on the scene in Marion.

    Further details are expected to be released later.
