Wokworks is coming to South Jersey. When will it open?

Husband and wife team Brennan and Samantha Foxman both grew up about six miles from Margate, where they spent ample time at the beach during their childhood.

In 2013, Brennan Foxman opened the first Wokworks in Philadelphia’s Rittenhouse Square and the wok-based fast casual restaurant soon had multiple other city locations.

Now, Wokworks is expanding out of Philadelphia. It’s coming home to the Jersey Shore.

Wokworks Margate will open in early June, just in time for shore season. The location at 7801 Ventnor Avenue, once was the site for Greens and Grains and previously a Stewart’s.

“My wife and I are both from Linwood,” said Brennan Foxman, the founder and CEO. “We grew up about a half mile away from each other. We went to middle school and high school together. We’re down there all the time. My cousins live in Margate. Our business partners live in Margate. Her family lives in Longport. It’s basically home for us. We’ve been looking for years for the perfect place for us in the area."

He also thinks Wokworks will be a good fit for the Margate market.

“Down there, there’s not a ton of options, especially really high quality, fast, and also affordable and quick," he said.

"When we opened restaurants in Philly, it’s a pretty tough market, so a lot of the things we do, we really honed them down and so we definitely thought that opening a Wokworks in the area, we were going to be a really amazing option for everyone.”

    How did Wokworks come about?

Foxman's inspiration for Wokworks came while he was studying abroad and fell in love with Southeast Asian street food. When he returned to the U.S., he wrote a business plan and later launched Wokworks.

Wokworks Margate will be a 2,000 square foot facility (indoor and outdoor) with outdoor seating capacity for up to 50 guests.

Menu items will include chili garlic chicken, dry pepper steak, drunk noodles, pad see yew, tiger fried rice, honey garlic shrimp, Dan Dan lo mein, bam bam chicken, crispy vegetable dumplings, and custom bowls.

New menu items will include dry pepper Korean fried wings, peach yuzu slushies, and single origin local soft-serve premium ice cream.

The menu also will include vegan and gluten-free offerings, and options for children.

“Our vision is to offer healthy, delicious, vegetable-forward fusion takeout catering to various occasions," said Foxman.

He also vowed to source all produce and vegetables from farms in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Hours and delivery options for Wokworks Margate

Wokworks now has eight locations, including restaurants, food trucks, and grocery store kiosks across greater Philadelphia.

Wokworks Margate will be open seven days a week, offer late-night service on weekends and will be available on all major delivery platforms. It will offer direct delivery ordering from wokworks.com.
