March for Northland recruits continues
With strategic initiatives now underway to restore Northland College’s financial footing and set a new academic direction, a lens may reasonably be pointed towards Northland LumberJills and LumberJacks athletic programs — many of which have struggled in recent years to climb up from the bottom of UMAC standings. The cost to offer sports at small colleges and universities appears clear and consistent, and it’s perhaps natural to view sports as an exceptional expense when an institution is struggling with finances. Overlooked, however, may be the...

Greater adventures await - A Q & A with Drummond Lumberjacks senior Sage Williams
To call Drummond Lumberjacks senior multi-sport standout Sage Williams an adventurer might be an understatement. An Eagle Scout, Williams has emerged from a relative unknown to some outside the Bay Area sports community, to what may likely be all-Northern Lights Conference nods in three sports this season while also displaying rare prowess in his studies which earned him all-state academic honors in WIAA D5 basketball. With designs to attend Louisiana State University, the Ashland Daily Press at last nabbed Williams to discuss his decorated past and what happens next as he makes the jump from the roughly 100 student body...
