Man found dead in Mankato apartment investigated as suspected homicide: Police
MANKATO, Minn. (FOX 9) - Police say a 27-year-old man found dead in a Mankato apartment on Tuesday is being investigated as a suspected homicide. A woman called dispatch around 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, asking for law enforcement help. Officers with the North Mankato Police Department arrived at an apartment complex on the 1600 block of Hoover Drive, and the woman brought them to the apartment.
Two vehicles collide in Arlington Township intersection
Arlington Township, MN – Three people were injured in a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 5 and 411th Avenue on Thursday evening. According to the Minnesota State Patrol (MSP), a 2007 Kia Sedona driven by Steven Lester Langhoff, 74, of Lafayette, was traveling southbound on 411th Avenue when it collided with a westbound 2008 Toyota Corolla driven by Emma Marie Riebel, 21, of Mankato, at the intersection.
VICTIM, SUSPECT ID’D IN ALLEGED NORTH MANKATO HOMICIDE
The North Mankato Police Department has identified the victim and the suspect in Tuesday’s alleged homicide. Authorities say the victim is 27-year-old John Everette Lutgen-Bernatz and the suspect, 41-year-old Dominic Scott Ellen, is in custody in the Nicollet County Jail awaiting charges. Police responded to the call from a female requesting help at the Village Court Apartments Tuesday morning at 11:30 am. There they found Lutgen-Gernatz dead in an apartment with Ellen also in the apartment. He was arrested without incident. The incident remains under investigation by the North Mankato Police Department and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal of Apprehension.
TWO HURT IN THREE VEHICLE VS COWS CRASH ON HIGHWAY 14
Two New Ulm residents were hurt in a three-vehicle crash involving cows on Highway 14 near 481st Avenue in Nicollet County this (Wednesday) morning. The state patrol was called at 4:16 am and found a Pontiac G5 driven by 38-year-old Bradley Wussow of New Ulm, a Honda Civic driven by 25-year-old Maija Russell of New Ulm and a Hyundai Azera driven by 19-year-old Braden Bolduan of New Ulm collided with multiple cows that were on the roadway. Wussow wasn’t hurt but Russell and Bolduan were taken to Mankato Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The road was closed for several hours. The Nicollet County Sheriff’s Office, Nicollet Fire Department and Mayo Ambulance all assisted at the scene.
