NYPD is on high alert for potential attacks on Israel Day parade Sunday
The NYPD is on high alert for Sunday’s Israel Day on Fifth parade in Manhattan, warning that “extremists across the ideological spectrum and other grievance-driven malicious actors” may look to strike the high-profile event, according to a police department threat assessment. Extra security measures will be in place due to the war in Gaza, which was sparked by the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas ...
Truckers suing to block New York’s congestion fee for Manhattan drivers
NEW YORK (AP) — Add truckers to the list of opponents seeking to block New York’s first-in-the-nation congestion fee for driving into Manhattan. The Trucking Association of New York filed a federal lawsuit Thursday against the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, which developed the toll scheme, arguing the higher fees unfairly and unconstitutionally target the trucking industry. ‘Landmark’ NYC bowling alley may be on its last frame as locals slam city plan to make way for housing complex: ‘Devastating’
Whitestone Lanes may be on its last frame. The landmark Queens bowling alley is the target of city plans to demolish the lanes to make way for a massive new housing development – leaving regulars of the hotspot-turned-relic beside themselves. “As a bowler, this is no good,” said Jose Zambrano, a retired American Airlines worker who has been a regular at the Flushing lanes for two decades. “To us, it’s like you’re taking our food away, our playground. This is, to me, devastating,” Zambrano, 62, said. “It’s been here for so long. I’ve been coming here for the last 20 years.” Bronx rapper Ashley...
