Atlantic Boy’s Split in Substate Tennis Tournament
(Atlantic) The Atlantic boys’ tennis team topped Saydel in a quarterfinal match on Saturday in the Substate 7 Tournament and fell short to Shenandoah in the semi-finals. Doublesplay proved to be the deciding factor for the Trojans against Saydel. The Eagles won four of the six in singles; however, the Trojans bounced back, sweeping doubles for the 5-4 win. For Saydel, Austin Schnell at #1, Jake Buell at #2, Sadler Gruber at #3, and Jacob McPerren at #5 won singles matches. In Doubles, the state-bound duo of Waters/Juhl defeated Schnell/Buell in a battle 6-4, 7-6, (7). The Trojans also picked up wins from Johnson/Woodward (5-7, 6-3, 6-2) and Bennett/O’Hara (6-1,6-1) to keep the Trojans alive in the tourney. But the Trojans ran into a tough Shenandoah and defeated the Trojans 5-0 in the semifinals. The Mustangs take on North Polk on Wednesday in the Substate Finals.

Sidney alum Jorgenson claims ARC title
(Pella) -- Sidney alum and Central College senior Noah Jorgenson won an American Rivers Conference title on Saturday. Jorgenson claimed top honors in the 1500 with a time of 3:50.09. He also finished fifth in the 800 in 1:55.93. Jorgenson's conference title helped Central finish fourth in the team standings.
Staats to take over Shenandoah track & field program

AHSTW Girls and Boys Send Three Teams Each to State Track – Audubon Girls Await Official Times
(Treynor, IA) The Treynor state-qualifier meet started at 4 p.m. on Thursday as AHSTW and Audubon Girls track made their final adjustments before starting the races. The wait didn’t take long for the Lady Vikes as they started the meet off strong winning the 800-meter sprint medley with a time of 1:51.44. Caitlyn Dills, Loralei Wahling, Brooklyn Buck and Bella Lamp put together the Lady Vikes best time of the season behind a strong anchor leg from Lamp, overtaking MVAO-COU and Van Meter in the final lap to send the relay team to state.
Van Meter, Red Oak, and Shenandoah Advance in 2A Regional Girl’s Golf
(Area) The Class 2A Regional Golf Tournaments wrapped up this afternoon: Van Meter, Red Oak, and Shenandoah advanced in the Class 2A Region 3A tourney at the Red Oak Country Club. Van Meter topped the field with a 370, Red Oak shot 401, and Shenandoah finished with a 402. Treynor (417), Underwood (432), and Clarinda (434) round out the team scores. The top six individuals advance. The Regional final will be held at the Leon Country Club.

Geography with Goudge: NCAA Women's Beach Volleyball Players, 2024
(KMAland) -- Dr. Ted Goudge, a Shenandoah native and retired Associate Professor of Geography at Northwest Missouri State University, has released his latest geography map. Beach volleyball is the 90th and newest NCAA sport. The 8th National Championship was played last weekend in Gulf Shores, AL. The USC Trojans won their sixth title. The per capita production of NCAA beach volleyball players is greater in coastal states and the Midwest. Arizona leads followed by Hawaii, Nebraska, Colorado and Alabama. There are 97 NCAA women’s beach volleyball programs across all divisions resulting in 1,731 players. 170 or slightly less than 10% of the players come from outside the U.S. Led by Canada, Brazil, and the Czech Republic.
