Stanley man wins first $400K Jackpot prize
STANLEY, N.C. (WBTV) - A Gaston County dad decided to take a chance on a lottery ticket Saturday, resulting in him winning the top prize. Melvin Brooks of Stanley bought the $5 ticket after his friend won a decent prize after playing the new $400,000 Jackpot game, which debuted in April and had five top prizes. Brooks is the first to receive the top prize, leaving four left to be claimed.

Christopher Palmiter, stepfather of missing Cornelius girl, files for divorce after jury finds him guilty
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Christopher Palmiter, the stepfather of missing Cornelius girl Madalina Cojocari, has filed for divorce, according to documents obtained by WBTV. This comes just over a week after he was found guilty of failing to report Madalina missing in 2022. The judge sentenced Palmiter to 30 months of supervised probation.
