Authorities responded to a stabbing and assault at Sahalee Park in Madras at approximately 3 p.m., Friday, May 10. Initial reports from police at the scene said the perpetrator fled the scene.

Police and emergency medical personnel arrived on the scene to find one victim, who was transported to the hospital with reports of a stab wound and loss of consciousness.

Police said the incident involved four individuals, including minors. They said at approximately 4:51 p.m. all suspects were in custody.

“While the specifics of the incident are still under investigation, we want to reassure the public that there is no ongoing threat to our community,” said the Madras Police Department in a statement.

Police were also present on Sixth Street between C and D streets with a suspect in custody.

Sahalee Park was taped off during the investigation. Madras High School, Jefferson County Middle School and Bridges High School were placed in secure mode during the incident, which means no one can enter of exit the building. This slightly delayed the school’s release time for the day.

Additionally, St. Charles Madras medical center was placed on lockdown during the incident.

No further information is known at this time.

Madras Police Department, along with Jefferson County Fire and EMS, Jefferson County Sheriff and Oregon State Police responded to the incident.
