MADISON, Wis. -- A man accused of shooting another man on State Street in late 2022 pleaded guilty to a felony charge in the case last week, online court records show.

Lamar Jefferson, 41, was charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide and possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. Online records show that he pleaded guilty Friday to first-degree recklessly endangering safety and the other two charges were dismissed.

The charges stemmed from a Nov. 29, 2022 shooting that injured a man and prompted a temporary shelter-in-place order at the Kohl Center during a Badgers men's basketball game.

Jefferson was arrested in July 2023 in Milwaukee County. According to court records, he was arrested a week before the shooting after he allegedly told police he wanted to kill someone following a fight.

Online records show Jefferson was sentenced to serve eight years in prison followed by five years of extended supervision.
