CHESTERTOWN — The African American Women’s Health Advisory Committee (AAWHAC) has changed its name to the African American Health Advisory Committee (AAHAC). This group was formed in September 2022 as a collaborative effort between University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Chestertown’s Shore Community Outreach Team (SCOT), the hospital’s health educator, and women from the local African American community. Washington College Starr Center to Host Tea Party Inaugural Program May 23
To celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the Chestertown Tea Party (1774), and the inaugural program of the statewide Maryland 250 Commission, Washington College’s Starr Center for the Study of the American Experience will host a commemoration of Chestertown’s most famous Revolutionary moment, co-sponsored by the Chestertown Tea Party Festival and the Maryland 250 Commission. The May 23 event — which begins at 5:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public — will be held on the historic riverfront, outside the colonial Custom House (101 S. Water Street, Chestertown, MD). It will include remarks by state and local officials, including two members of the Maryland Governors’ Executive Council: Secretary of Planning Rebecca L. Flora and Secretary of Service & Civic Innovation D. Paul Montiero, Jr.

On Saturday June 8th at Wilmer Park in Chestertown, MD we will be entertained by all day live music performed by your favorite local musicians and lawn games for all to participate in. We kick off the day with a guided kayak tour of Radcliffe Creek from 10-12 departing from the kayak launch at Wilmer Park (or Marina launch site). Bring your own kayak or rent one on site. Full activities begin at 12. Chief Dixon of the Chestertown Police Dept has graciously offered to volunteer one of his staff to be in the Dunk Tank. Who doesn’t want to dunk a cop? Lt. Police arrest two in theft turned motor vehicle crash
GRASONVILLE — Queen Anne’s County Office of the Sheriff deputies arrested a man and woman suspected of stealing $5,000 worth of merchandise from a Walgreens, ending in the pair crashing the vehicle into the Waterman’s Monument and being apprehended. At approximately 5:01 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, deputies responded to the Walgreens located in the 1800 block of Chester for reports of a theft. New skatepark construction underway in Queen Anne's County
The Department of Parks and Recreation, alongside the County Commissioners, are excited to announce the construction of a new skatepark. The skatepark will be located in Stevensville on Cockey Lane behind Business Parkway and promises to be a dynamic addition to the recreational amenities of Queen Anne’s County. Drawing on the Socratic tradition of lively, open-ended inquiry, Washington College’s Academy of Lifelong Learning’s Socrates Café is a forum for exploring questions that don’t have easy right-or-wrong answers. BOE waives fund balance minimum
CENTREVILLE — Faced with budget challenges for this year and subsequent years, Queen Anne’s County Board of Education approved waiving the district’s fund balance minimum requirements in order to balance the current FY24 budget May 1.
