LUDLOW, Mass. (WWLP) – Letter carriers are picking up nonperishable food donations left in mailboxes across the country for one day only scheduled next month.

US growth slowed sharply last quarter to 1.6% pace, reflecting an economy pressured by high rates

The annual National Association of Letter Carriers ‘Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive’ will be held on Saturday, May 11th. Residents are being asked to leave nonperishable food, preferably in cans and jars, in or near their mailboxes. All donations will help many pantries provide food to local families in need.

Last year, over 7,000 pounds of food was collected in Ludlow, Wilbraham, and Indian Orchard. It was donated to the Community Survival Center’s Emergency Food Pantry in Indian Orchard. The pantry provides groceries, to those in need in the surrounding communities.

Over the last three decades, more than 1.82 billion pounds of food have been collected and distributed nationally to those in need at this annual event.
