MIDLAND, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – The City of Lubbock has announced that Midland’s current Chief of Police, Seth Herman, will be taking over as Lubbock Police Department’s new Chief.

Herman beat out three other finalists and will now be stepping in for Interim Chief Gregory Rushin, who was appointed to the position in September. Herman is expected to join LPD on June 3.

“I am very honored to be the next Police Chief of the Lubbock Police Department…I am humbled by the opportunity to work with the outstanding members of LPD that protect and serve the citizens daily. I cannot wait to work and build on the Department’s positive momentum,” said Herman on his recent appointment.

“The City of Midland expresses gratitude for his many years of dedicated service and leadership,” said the City of Midland in a statement on Tuesday.

Currently, there is no word on who will be the next Chief of MPD.
