LUBBOCK, Texas — Several people in the Lubbock community came together to host a “Forever 44” event to honor Amy O, a Lubbock radio DJ who passed in a motorcycle crash in San Antonio last weekend. The event will be on April 27 from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the At Home parking lot.

The event is set to have 10-15 food trucks, vendors, a DJ, live graffiti and a show and shine car meet. The all-day gathering will conclude with a closing ceremony and a balloon release to honor Amy O.

JT Hardin, owner of Rocking J Photography, told EverythingLubbock.com on Friday the event is to remember Amy O for the person she was and for the community to come together and have a good time, just like she would have wanted.

The idea for the event came as friends of Amy O’s wanted to do something to honor her. What started as a gathering for close friends quickly began an event for the whole community to remember her, Hardin said.

Attendees are encouraged to take pictures with one another at the event and upload them to a Google Drive that can be accessed through a QR code that can be found at the event. The photos will be made into a video to remember the gathering, Hardin said.

Amy O was adamant about being positive, helping people and enjoying people’s company, Hardin said.

If you feel called to donate to the family of Amy O, you can do so at the event by donating cash or through Venmo at the Yaya’s Place food truck. The link to donate can be found below.
