    Authorities searching for inmate with stolen Upton County vehicle in Lubbock

    LUBBOCK, Texas — Authorities in Lubbock are searching for an inmate who stole an Upton County Sheriff’s Office pickup truck on Thursday. The suspect was identified as Benjamin Soliz, 36.

    The Texas Department of Public Safety said the vehicle crashed near CR 7700 and CR 2830. According to DPS, Soliz was being transported by Upton County when he used the vehicle to escape.

    Lubbock bar forced to close after ‘violent incidents’

    DPS said Soliz stole a Can-am, a four-seater with a white spray tank in the back. According to DPS, Soliz is believed to be in the Slaton area but may head back to Lubbock.

    Online jail records showed Soliz was in custody at the Lubbock County Detention Center for theft and stalking.
