Scottie Scheffler's arrest prior to his round two tee time at the PGA Championship last Friday continues to dominate headlines in the golf world this week.

Scheffler, the World No. 1 and defending Masters champion, was arrested after officers felt he failed to safely navigate around an accident near the gates of Valhalla Golf Club. Scheffler was ultimately released and made his round two tee time - but contrary to the sentiment shared by many immediately after the arrest, it does not appear that this case will be going away anytime soon.

Earlier today, Scheffler's lawyer - Steve Romines - said they have no interest in settling the case, indicating that it will either be dismissed or go to trial.

Additionally, the arresting officer - Det. Bryan Gillis - received 'corrective action' for failing to activate his body camera during the arrest.

According to WDRB.com criminal justice reporter Jason Riley, this isn't the first time Gillis has found himself in hot water with the Louisville Police Department.

"Louisville Police Det. Bryan Gillis has been disciplined several times for wrecking his vehicle & missing court, according to his personnel file. He was also suspended 5 days for doing 'donuts' in his police vehicle while on duty with an intoxicated civilian in a 'Code 3' fashion," Riley posted.

Riley continued the thread with a list of times Gillis had received punishment from LMPD.

"A list of all of the times Det. Gillis has been punished by LMPD. (Not including Scheffler body cam violation)," Riley tweeted.

Scheffler, 27, is even-par through 10 holes in his first round at the Charles Schwab Challenge this Thursday.

He's currently four strokes behind a collection of leaders sitting at -4.
