Joe Scarborough Cleans Up Weird Discussion About ‘Militarized’ Louisville Police: ‘Nobody is Comparing’ Scottie Scheffler to Breonna Taylor

Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough had to clarify that his show was not comparing Scottie Scheffler to Breonna Taylor following a discussion about the golfer’s arrest.
Early in the morning, Scheffler was arrested as he arrived at the Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky for the second round of the PGA Championship. Prior to his arrival, someone was struck and killed by a shuttle bus. As a result, only players were being let into the club.
When Scheffler attempted to drive past officers to go in, however, he was immediately stopped, told to exit the car, and handcuffed. He was later processed by the Louisville Metropolitan Department of Corrections and charged with assault of a police officer, criminal mischief, reckless driving, and disregarding signals from officers directing traffic.
“So this is the same police force that shot and killed Breonna Taylor ,” Elise Jordan said on Friday’s episode of Morning Joe . “What was the resolution of that?”
Al Sharpton then noted how the police involved with Taylor’s death were “not punished to the degree of the law.”
“I mean, you’re dealing with justice in Louisville, which is what Breonna Taylor’s mother and others have been talking about for a long time,” Sharpton continued. “The absurdity of the story that the policeman didn’t even ask, ‘Why did you keep driving?’ Nothing. No interrogation. Just, ‘Wait, I told you something. I’ll jump on the car to stop you.’ I mean, this shows you the mentality that we were dealing with, with Breonna Taylor and others in the Louisville area.”
That’s when Scarborough jumped in to try to clean up the discussion.
“And nobody’s comparing this to — obviously — Breonna Taylor,” he said.
Jordan then sought to clarify her initial comments further.
“My point is just it’s a very militarized police force,” she said.
