The suspect who led police on a chase that ended with a wrong-way crash on the 405 Freeway Friday morning was known to cause disturbances in the Venice area.

Early Friday morning, police responded to a disturbance call at 3rd and Rose Avenues.

The violent chase followed. A video obtained by Westside Current and posted on Instagram showed the woman arguing with a man while police were there. At one point she yelled, “I’ve been ordered by the cartel!”

The video ends with her in the white van speeding off with cops following her.

One resident said she saw the woman causing a commotion before the chase.

“This all went on and then she's like backed up, finally got in her car. We were like, ‘yes!’ because now the cops can actually do something and then she backed up into the police car and then took off,” the woman said. “So like 10 minutes later, I turned the news and I was like, ‘Oh my God, that's her.’”

Matt Shaw, a landlord, told KNX News’ Karen Adams, the woman appears to be one of the car campers in the area.

“From speaking to the tenants, she has been in the area for a long time. Not only on our street, but other streets in Venice kind of moving around as the police probably do nudge her to move once she creates a large problem,” he said.

Although the woman’s name has not been publicly released, Councilmember Traci Park told KNX News’ Craig Feiegener she knows who the woman is and that her staffers have tried to get the woman help, but that the woman refused multiple times.

She’s said what she saw this morning was like "watching a failed social experiment in real-time."

The chase ended on the 405 when the driver crashed into multiple vehicles. LAFD took one person to the hospital in unknown condition, according to City News Service.
