Bill Simmons Shades Lakers After They Fired Darvin Ham

The Los Angeles Lakers made the inevitable decision on Friday to fire head coach Darvin Ham after just two years on the job.

The move comes after they were unable to get past the Denver Nuggets in the opening round of the NBA Playoffs, and after Ham was shaded by star player Anthony Davis who questioned the team's preparedness. While his strategies and lineups may have been an issue this season, Ham didn't build this team.

Something that NBA insider Bill Simmons pointed out on social media shortly after the announcement was made.

Even despite being a devout Boston Celtics fan, it was clear that Simmons felt some sort of disappointment with the move. While he didn't necessarily say who was to blame, he did point out that the team made a handful of transactions that in hindsight could have been the difference between them being a contender or not.

"It was all Darvin Ham’s fault! Remember when he traded for Westbrook, picked D-Lo over Conley in the Russ makeup trade, drafted Hood-Schifino over Jaquez, signed Wood and Reddish, gave Rui and D-Lo short deals that immediately made them trade rumor guys…" wrote Simmons.

The blame certainly seems like it can be passed onto general Rob Pelinka who signed off an all the moves, but also a bit to LeBron James who is heavily involved in decision-making despite having a horrendous track record. The Lakers are expected to pursue some of the biggest names in the NBA world to replace Ham.
