Chatsworth fire damages house; man injured

A fire damaged a house in the Chatsworth area Tuesday and left a man injured.

Firefighters sent to the 19800 block of West Marilla Street at 9:11 a.m. extinguished the flames in the two-story home in 20 minutes, according to Nicholas Prange of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

"One resident was home at the time, and sustained minor-to-moderate smoke inhalation while attempting to subdue the flames prior to LAFD arrival," Prange said.

Paramedics took the approximately 55-year-old man to a hospital, Prange said.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
