“I don’t think it’s impossible” - Draymond Green thinks LeBron can win another ring but not with the current Lakers roster

The Los Angeles Lakers' season is on life support after falling to a 3-0 hole in the first-round matchup against the Denver Nuggets. Unless a miracle happens, LeBron James will see his age-39 season come to an end early and without a championship.

All signs point to the four-time MVP returning for his 22nd campaign, but his title window is closing quickly. Only time will tell if he succeeds in securing his fifth ring, although some people are probably skeptical of his chances. Not Draymond Green , though, because the Golden State Warriors forward thinks his buddy can add another trophy to his hardware, albeit not with the current Lakers roster.

"Brings us to the question of, 'Will LeBron James ever win a championship again?'" Green said on his show. "With this current Lakers team, I don't think so. I think it's going to be tough. Can LeBron James win another championship at the level that he's playing? Absolutely. But I think some things have to be retooled and figured out. And not with this current team, I don't think it's possible. But I don't think it's impossible for LeBron to win another championship."

    The Lakers' doomed season

James further added to his legacy by proving to be one of the Association's best players despite some of his opponents being born after his professional debut. LeBron appears on his way to clinching an All-NBA selection after averaging 25.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 8.3 assists per contest. He even shot a career-high 41.0% from beyond the arc, showing his capacity to evolve his game.

Unfortunately, his production hasn't been enough to lift Los Angeles to championship contender status. The team played catch-up to many of its Western Conference competitors all season long, even after winning the In-Season Tournament earlier in the campaign.

What has made it more disheartening for the Lake Show is that Anthony Davis has also had a healthy and productive season, appearing in all but six regular-season meetings and putting up 24.7 points, 12.6 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per contest.

As Green alluded, some things have to change for the Lakers if they want to contend for the title after this campaign, especially since they are clearly not on the same level as the defending champs.

    Will LeBron stay in LA?

A huge question coming into the offseason for the Purple and Gold is whether James will look for another shot at the Larry O'Brien Trophy in Los Angeles or elsewhere.

Kendrick Perkins doesn't think where his former teammate plays matters as long as Nikola Jokic is not yet retired . That doesn't mean the 20-time All-Star should give up. What else would he be playing for if not fighting for a championship?

If James decides to stay with the Lakers, the organization will have to do better in providing him with players who could not only complement him but also take the reins if necessary. Of course, that would entail Bron recognizing that the possibility of him being the best player in a title-winning squad might be slim, given his age and the mileage on his body.

Maybe changes are needed on the coaching front, too. Green offered his support to Darvin Ham after Davis apparently threw the Lakers coach under the bus after their Game 2 loss to Denver.

Even so, many believe Ham is just not the right man for the job, especially after watching him allow Los Angeles to give up leads of at least 10 points to the Nuggets in each of their series' first three meetings.
