"Impossibly bad" - Skip Bayless is shocked by Nuggets getting hammered by 45 points in Game 6 by the Timberwolves

Although Anthony Edwards and Jaden McDaniels combined for 48 points for the Minnesota Timberwolves , the visiting team's dreadful shooting performance was the most significant storyline from the Denver Nuggets' 45-point loss in Game 6.

The defending champs shot just 19.4% from the field and 30.2% from the field, which left Skip Bayless so stunned that the 72-year-old analyst could only label the Nuggets' showings as 'impossibly bad.'

Bayless still hasn't given up on Denver

Despite the Nuggets' solid 9-2 start in the first quarter, the Timberwolves displayed great cohesiveness on the court, ending the quarter with a 29-5 run. Although Naz Reid, Karl Anthony Towns, and Rudy Gobert scored just 28 points, they combined for 38 rebounds—nearly outrebounding the entire Denver team, which had 43.

Moreover, Nikola Jokic wasn't allowed to set the tone or create plays for his teammates, accumulating more turnovers than assists. On the other hand, the three-time MVP's inability to score timely buckets under pressure further enhanced Jamal Murray's offensive struggles, who shot 4-of-18 from the field.

Similarly, Michael Porter Jr. and Kentavious Caldwell Pope combined for just 5-for-15 shooting, including 3-of-12 from the 3-point line. Even the Nuggets bench was outscored 36-9, with seven of those points coming in the last five minutes of the game when both teams had benched their stars.

Given Chris Finch's team's resurgence and dominant performance against the defending champions, many would now back the Timberwolves to win Game 7. However, Bayless remains skeptical. He believes that, despite the odds, the Nuggets will make their way to the 2024 WC Finals.

Timberwolves know what they have to do in Game 7

McDaniels' 21 points were a huge boost and exactly what the Timberwolves will need going forward to reach their first conference finals in two decades. Having a player able to support Ant-Man in scoring is crucial and needed in Game 7, while KAT and Rudy focus on not allowing Jokic to set the tone of the game. The Wolves missed this in the last three games and it was evident with their three consecutive losses.

While Edwards & Co. are brimming with confidence after tonight, beating the Nuggets at home in Game 7 will be no easy task, especially considering Denver was the second-best team at home during the regular-season campaign.

Also, while Minnesota has yet to taste defeat in a Game 7 (having played just one in franchise history), this new-age Nuggets team under coach Malone is 3-1 in Game 7s. It remains to be seen who comes out on top on Sunday night.
