Local business falls victim to counterfeit $100 bill scam
EUGENE, Ore. -- Lee's Thai Food -- a local, family-owned business on Echo Hollow Road -- accidentally accepted a counterfeit $100 bill on May 10. "Unfortunately, sometimes the currency is of a quality that merchants get duped into accepting that currency and giving change... then the criminals use the change for whatever their purposes are. And then they profit twice. They've not only received goods and services, but then they walk away with somebodies hard-earned cash," said Eugene Police Department Lt. Doug Mozan.

Springfield man arrested after allegedly scamming woman over Facebook Marketplace
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – A Springfield man has been arrested in connection with a Facebook Marketplace scam that allegedly swindled more than $1,000 from a woman in Brookings. According to court documents, Zakiyyah Justin Coffman, 23, allegedly sold a mini excavator to a woman on Facebook Marketplace for $3,000 in February. He said he would deliver the excavator to her in two days, but first needed her to send him $500 before delivery, which she did. Coffman the offered to also sell her a Bobcat and a Kubota Tracker, in addition to the excavator, for a total of $9,000. He allegedly said he would deliver all three machines to her if she sent him an additional $600 for the cost of delivery. She agreed and again transferred the money.
Police: Two critically injured in Beltline crash; alcohol use 'being considered'
EUGENE, Ore. — Eugene Springfield Fire and Eugene Police department crews responded to a two-car crash on Beltline eastbound just before midnight Sunday. The crash was between a Dodge Ram truck and a taxicab, police said. CPR was in progress on one victim when emergency personnel arrived, Eugene Springfield Fire stated.

Man arrested in connection to Downtown Eugene kidnapping
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – An arrest has been made in connection to an alleged kidnapping in Downtown Eugene in late April, according to Eugene police. In the evening of April 29, a 911 caller told dispatchers a woman was screaming and a man was hitting her in the area of east 17th Avenue near Ferry Street, according to the Eugene Police Department. The man allegedly put the woman in a headlock and dragged her into a car, then drove away, EPD said.
