Spring flooding possible after snowy winter
After one of the snowiest winters on record, experts are warning that there’s an elevated chance of significant flooding this spring, depending on how quickly fields across the region unleash the several inches of water they now contain. According to the National Weather Service’s forecasts, the flooding could be particularly severe in Rice County. NOAA is projecting a two thirds chance of moderate flooding along the Cannon River in Northfield, and a one third chance of severe flooding. ...
Celebrate Jordan this Sunday
Celebrate Jordan will take place Sunday, April 2, from 1-4 p.m. at the Community Education and Recreation Center and Middle School. The open house sponsored by Jordan Public Schools and CERC will include exhibits from businesses, churches, service organizations, food vendors, athletics programs and the school itself. The event is open to the public.
Jordan Tobacco and Vape opens
Jordan Tobacco and Vape, Jordan’s newest business, opened Feb. 6 after licensing took longer than expected. The business celebrated its grand opening with the city in late February and since then it’s had excellent business, manager Jodi Smith said. This is now the fifth location the company has opened; the other locations are in Belle Plaine, New Prague and Burnsville, which has two.

DMT drug lab found in basement of Rice County home: Charges
RICE COUNTY, Minn. (FOX 9) - A drug lab was discovered in the basement of a Rice County home during the execution of a search warrant on Tuesday, according to court documents. The Cannon River Drug and Violent Offender Task Force executed a search warrant at a two-story house in Nerstrand, Minnesota. As law enforcement began searching the residence they found what appeared to be a drug lab for the powerful psychedelic DMT in the basement, including two crockpots "full of a red sludge substance."

Man, 37, arrested on DWI charges following Lakeville truck fire
LAKEVILLE, Minn. -- Police in Lakeville say a 37-year-old man was jailed after he allegedly crashed his truck while intoxicated, resulting in the vehicle going up in flames.In a Facebook post Wednesday, Lakeville police say officers recently responded to the 19000 block of Harvest Drive on the report of a vehicle fire. When they arrived, the lone occupant - a 37-year-old male driver - was outside of the vehicle. "Fortunately, he didn't suffer any injuries. He was, however, highly intoxicated, showing numerous signs of impairment and testing a .28 PBT," police said.The man didn't know how his vehicle crashed or caught fire, according to police. He was jailed on DWI charges. Lakeville fire crews responded and extinguished the fire.
