News 12 beats the heat today at Long Branch beach

With the rise in warm temperatures today, News 12 New Jersey is taking a visit to Long Branch to see how the beachside city is preparing for what could be a busy beach day.

One thing to note: There are no lifeguards at Pier Village in Long Branch yet. Every year, safety officials urge visitors to use caution if they plan to go in the water before lifeguards are on duty.

Long Branch recently announced that they're hiring summer lifeguards. Lifeguards will be on duty on the weekends starting May 25 and daily starting June 15.

Applicants for both ocean lifeguard and pool lifeguard positions must be available to work a minimum of 32 hours per week, including weekends and holidays. For more information, click here .
