Penn Grows is finding creative ways to incorporate mircogreens into more than just food

Penn Grows began as a way for husband-and-wife duo Mitchell and Gloria Cherry to support their dog, Finley, after he was diagnosed with cancer. "They offered us a super expensive surgery that might have bought him another three or four months," Mitchell explains. "We decided that wasnt in the cards for us."

After doing some research, Mitchell learned that microgreens, particularly broccoli microgreens, contain sulforaphane, a naturally occurring compound that has been studied for its potential health benefits. He began incorporating microgreens into Finleys diet, and Finley lived for another 10 months.

That experience became the catalyst for the couple to start Penn Grows, a microgreen farm that sells antioxidant-rich microgreen mixes to the community and local chefs. They also offer supplements, as well as microgreens for pets and feeder insects. Most recently, the couple launched a skincare line called Micro Glams, using microgreens in products such as masks, toners, and face oils.
