Ballet schools can often be expensive and inaccessible for students in under-resourced areas, so a performing arts nonprofit is providing an alternative - free training.

"Ballet isn't for everybody, but it can be for anybody," said Michelle Cave, founder and director of Ballet and Beyond NYC. "I never want cost or access to be a barrier."

The organization partners with after-school programs and other nonprofits to bring ballet studios to students - clearing the impediments of cost and travel. Anyone with a desire and passion for dance, not just ballet, can find themselves welcome.

Its free summer intensive program, the Repertory Youth Summer Enrichment (R.Y.S.E.) Conservatory, runs six weeks, Monday through Friday. Students learn from a wide range of disciplines, including dance, musical theater, and filmography.

"What we do here is special because we have professional artists that come in and lay the foundation for these young people, and it costs nothing for them," said Carlton Terrence Taylor, the artistic director of the R.Y.S.E. Conservatory.

"It's our 10th year and something that I'm really proud of is that students who started with us have grown through the program," Cave said. "All you need to do is find us and let us know you want to do the work."

I Got Tired of Making Breakfast Every Morning, So I Started Baking It Once

Mornings get a lot easier when breakfast is already sitting in the refrigerator. These protein-packed egg muffins turn a basic carton of eggs into grab-and-go portions you can make ahead, chill, and reheat when the day starts moving faster than you do. The eggs bake up fluffy and tender in individual cups, while cheese, vegetables, or cooked breakfast meat can add enough savory flavor to keep them from feeling like plain scrambled eggs in disguise. They’re warm, filling, and easy to customize depending on whatever needs using in the refrigerator. Instead of dirtying a skillet every morning—or settling for another piece of toast—you can cook breakfast once and have several mornings handled.

This Macaroni Salad Knows Why It Disappears First

Macaroni salad can be forgettable when it is merely cold pasta covered in dressing, but this version earns attention with a careful balance of sweet, tangy, creamy, and crunchy. Tender macaroni provides the familiar base, while crisp vegetables interrupt the softness and bring freshness to every scoop. The dressing coats the pasta generously without flattening the other flavors, delivering the nostalgic deli-counter quality people expect while tasting far more personal than something purchased by the pound. A touch of sweetness softens the tang and makes the salad especially friendly beside smoky barbecue, salty meats, and spicy dishes. After chilling, the ingredients settle together and the dressing moves into the pasta, creating the creamy consistency that makes people take a much larger spoonful than they originally intended.

Three Ingredients Shouldn’t Turn Into Fudge This Creamy, but Somehow They Do

Fudge has a reputation for candy thermometers, careful timing, and recipes that can go wrong if you look away at the wrong moment. This three-ingredient version skips most of that drama. With just a few simple ingredients and no oven required, it sets into rich, smooth squares with that dense, melt-in-your-mouth texture people expect from homemade fudge. There’s no long baking session and no complicated ingredient list hiding behind the word “easy.” Just creamy chocolate sweetness that can be sliced into little pieces once it’s chilled and firm. It’s the kind of recipe that makes you wonder why homemade candy ever needed to become an all-day kitchen project.
