League of Women Voters shows Pasadena voters the path to November

For years, the League of Women Voters has been a fixture of Pasadena’s civic landscape. Throughout October, the organization is hosting a series of non-partisan candidate forums designed to help residents learn about local elections. These events bring together candidates and community members for substantive conversations about voter issues.
“We want citizens to make informed decisions,” explains the LWV Pasadena Area, which has organized forums across seven local jurisdictions. “By hosting these forums, we’re creating spaces where candidates and voters can connect face-to-face.”
The forums run through mid-October and cover races in Alhambra, Pasadena Unified School District, La Canada, Monrovia, San Gabriel, Altadena, and Duarte. Each event features candidates for city council and school board positions.

- Monday, October 5, 6:30 PM – Pasadena USD Districts 1 and 5 (PUSD Headquarters)
- Tuesday, October 6, 6:00 PM – La Canada USD Governing Board (La Canada High School Auditorium)
- Monday, October 12, 6:00 PM – Monrovia City Council and School Board (Monrovia Council Hearing Room)
- Thursday, October 15, 6:30 PM – San Gabriel City Council At-Large (San Gabriel)
- Monday, October 19, 6:00 PM – Altadena Trustee District 3 (Altadena Community Center)
- TBD – Duarte City Council and USD School Board (Westminster Gardens)
Many of these forums are co-sponsored by community organizations including Grassroots Alhambra, Pasadena Educators Network, the Pasadena PTA Council, Voces Unidas, and others.
On Sunday, October 11, LWV Pasadena Area is co-hosting “Witch Way to the Polls,” a family-friendly event at Griffith Park..
Co-chairs Colleen Donovan and Martha Zavala have conjured up an event that combines Halloween spirit with civic engagement.
“We want as many Los Angeles County residents as possible at this event,” said Donovan. “We have cash prizes for the first, second, and third participants to cross the finish line, and everyone gets a commemorative pin.”
The event features costume contests, trick-or-treating, voter registration booths, live music, face painting, and more.

With ballots set to mail out starting October 5, the League of Women Voters wants to make sure that every eligible voter is prepared to use them.

Missing since 2023 from Redmond, Washington: Noah and Oliver Richard have had little media focus
Noah Henry Richard has been missing from Redmond, Washington, since December 14, 2023, according to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). Noah, pictured above, was two when he went missing, but he would now be five years old. His brother, Oliver Richard (pictured below), was only seven months old when he also went missing on the same date. Oliver would now be three.

US Coast Guard Intercepts 200+ Migrants at Sea
The US Coast Guard has intercepted or repatriated more than 200 migrants involved in more than half a dozen cartel smuggling attempts this month off both US coasts. The latest smuggling run they interrupted occurred on September 13, 2026 21 miles west of San Diego.
