David Rosales and His Band of Scoundrels (Crossroads Cultural Connections)

Rooted in Americana and sun-soaked California soul, Los Angeles native Rosales delivers a guitar-driven sound that evokes the warmth of ’70s Laurel Canyon. Rosales introduced his full-length solo debut, "Brave Ones," in 2018, followed by "REVIVE" in 2022 and its companion EP, "TRAILS," in 2023. His touring career has included sharing stages with artists such as Brandi Carlile, Ben Harper, Counting Crows, Chris Isaak, and Jakob Dylan and The Wallflowers, along with an appearance at Milwaukee’s Summerfest.

Now working on his third full-length album, Rosales is exploring the twang and shimmer of vintage ’60s surf rock. Rosales is co-founder of the BraveOnes Foundation, a Huntington Beach-based children’s charity recognized by Children’s Hospital of Orange County with its 2023 Charley Award for Most Outstanding Organization.

J. Killen

Opening band J. Killen brings an earthy roots-rock sound and emotionally direct songwriting. The song “White Light” pairs warm harmonies, a rolling guitar riff, and pedal steel with a story about loneliness giving way to unexpected love.

Radoslav Lorković (Crossroads Cultural Connections)

Radoslav Lorković

Pianist and accordionist Radoslav Lorković on Sunday, Oct. 25, at Bishop Hill Creative Commons.

With a career spanning five decades, Lorković brings togetherclassical music, jazz, and blues, country, and soul. His playing moves from boogie-woogie to the New Orleans rhythms of Professor Longhair and James Booker, with accordion adding another dimension.

Born in Zagreb, Croatia, and raised in Iowa, Lorković grew up surrounded by music. One grandmother sang him Croatian, Slovenian, and Czech folk songs, while his paternal grandmother, classical pianist Melita Lorković, helped shape his early exposure to classical music. When he was 14, a friend taught him a blues scale and sparked a fascination that would redirect his musical path.

His first touring work with Bo Ramsey and the Sliders launched a career. Lorković has recorded or performed with Odetta, Jimmy LaFave, Greg Brown, Richard Shindell, Ellis Paul, Dan Navarro, and Shawn Mullins. His touring experience includes three years with Grammy-winning western swing band Asleep at the Wheel.

He was inducted into the Iowa Blues Hall of Fame in 2020. Lorković has performed at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, major folk festivals, Italian castles, and remote Alaskan villages. His recordings include eight studio albums and three live albums.

Both concerts are open to all ages, with a suggested donation of $20-30. Seating is limited, so reservations are encouraged here. Guests may reserve a seat and pay cash at the door.

For each concert, the evening will begin with an optional potluck dinner and social hour at 6 p.m., followed by music at 7 p.m. Guests who wish to participate in the potluck are encouraged to bring a dish to share.

Presented by Crossroads Cultural Connections, these concerts continue the organization’s mission of "bringing meaningful, high-quality live music experiences to Henry County and surrounding communities."
