Trump slams reporting on removal of his endorsements from GOP candidate’s website

(The Hill) -- President Trump criticized the media on Saturday following reports that GOP Rep. Byron Donalds (Fla.) removed several references to the president’s endorsement of his gubernatorial bid from his campaign website.
The president slammed this reporting as “Another Fake Story” in a Truth Social post, citing his election wins in Florida during his three presidential campaigns.
“If Florida thought the story that Byron ‘dropped’ me was true, he would lose the Election, and that would be a terrible thing because he’s going to be a fantastic Governor!” Trump wrote.
The gubernatorial candidate's campaign removed several mentions of the president’s name from its website, including a top banner that encouraged supporters to “chip in to support Trump Endorsed Byron Donalds.”
The homepage now opens with the slogan, "Fighting to defend the Florida dream," with a cycling list of endorsements below, including that of the president.
The president's post included a screenshot of Donalds’s response to media reports on these changes, in which the gubernatorial candidate said he was “proud to have" Trump's endorsement and shared a photo of them together behind the Resolute desk.
The move came as several Republican candidates running in battleground states seek to distance themselves from the Trump administration amid rising public discontent with increased living costs and the ongoing U.S. military operations against Iran.
The president’s criticism of the “Fake News Media” in his Saturday post also followed his recent decision to bar several news outlets from the White House grounds.
“I call them out, but they should really be called out by the Courts, and should not be allowed to enter the White House premises, or Press Room, because they are CORRUPT and DISHONEST!” he wrote on Saturday.
This week, the Trump administration revoked White House press credentials from reporters with MS NOW, CNN and Politico after the president imposed a ban on these outlets “as a result of their constant ‘reporting’ FAKE NEWS.”
The decision was later overturned after a federal judge ordered the White House to restore access to reporters from these outlets, finding this ban likely violated their constitutional rights. But on Friday night, Trump barred CNN from traveling with the press pool on Air Force One for his trip to Tennessee.
