Ribbon-cutting scheduled for upgraded Bettendorf park

The City of Bettendorf will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, at Edgewood Park, 1400 23rd St., where a new $132,069 state-of-the-art playground system was installed in May 2026 and a new rent-able shelter was built in July 2026.

Park visitors voted on these upgrades during a community input event.

“Edgewood Park is one of our unique neighborhood parks that is hard to replicate,” said John Byrnes, Parks & Recreation director. “It is a large park nestled into the surrounding neighborhood that offers parking, a baseball field, a pickleball court, restrooms, a half basketball court, and now features a brand-new playground and rent-able shelter, setting up Edgewood Park to be a destination for decades to come."

The community is invited to the ribbon cutting to enjoy the new amenities, along with free cookies and lemonade (while supplies last).
