Police Investigating Fatal Collision That Occurred Early Wednesday Morning
Montgomery County Police are investigating a fatal collision that occurred at approximately 12:27 a.m. on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 in Darnestown. According to MCPD, “The preliminary investigation has revealed that the driver of a gray Toyota 4Runner was traveling west in the 14400 block of Turkey Foot Road. For reasons that are still under investigation, the Toyota left the roadway and struck multiple trees, causing the vehicle to overturn. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The Montgomery County Department of Police, Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating this collision. A news release will be distributed once more information is available, including the name of the deceased following proper notification of next of kin.”

Housemate Admits Killing NJ-Born Sculptor In Maryland
A Maryland woman has admitted to killing her 92-year-old sculptor roommate, a New Jersey native, and attempting to make it seem like a natural death, authorities said. Julie Birch, 27, has pleaded guilty to the second-degree murder of East Orange native Nancy Ann Frankel, whom she first attempted to suffocate, then strangled to death during an incident in July 2021, Montgomery County State’s Attorney John McCarthy said.

DISTEFANO ENTERS “NO CONTEST” PLEA IN AGGRAVATED ASSAULT TRIAL
The man charged in connection with the death of a fellow IUP student pleaded “no contest” yesterday as his jury trial was scheduled to get underway. According to Indiana County District Attorney Robert Manzi, Brady DiStefano entered the “no contest” plea, and the single remaining charge of aggravated assault that was left from the appellate court was reduced to a charge of involuntary manslaughter. DiStefano was charged with fighting with Caleb Zweig of Rockville, Maryland, a fellow IUP student and fraternity brother with DiStefano, on February 3rd of 2017, and died a few hours later at Indiana Regional Medical Center.
