Two Little Rock 19-year-olds injured in separate weekend shootings

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Little Rock police are investigating two different weekend shootings that each left a 19-year-old injured.

Officials with the Little Rock Police Department report that the first shooting happened Friday just before 7 p.m. near MacArthur Park.

When officers arrived at the scene, they said they found a 19-year-old on the ground next to a car with a gunshot wound to his chest. The officers said they started giving medical aid to the teen until medical personnel arrived to take him to a nearby hospital.

Officers at the scene said they found a gun on the ground next to the teen when they arrived.

Department officials reported Monday morning that the teen was stable and that the investigation is ongoing.

The second shooting happened Sunday night near at the Fair Oaks Apartments on 36 ^th Street in the city’s south side.

Officers said they were called to the area just after 10:15 p.m. on reports of a shooting. When they arrived, the officers said they found a 19-year-old suffering from a gunshot wound.

The officers reported that the victim told them he did not know the identity of the person who shot him but did note that he was wearing all black clothing.

The teen was taken to a nearby hospital, and police officials said Monday he was stable.

Detectives and a crime scene team responded to begin their investigation, and officials noted that several spent shell casings were found at the scene of the shooting.

Little Rock Police Department officials said the investigations into both shootings are ongoing.
