Publix has thinned its metro Atlanta footprint, with two local stores among a small group of Southeast locations the chain has shuttered. The employee-owned grocer, headquartered in Lakeland, Florida, continues to close stores in Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. In the Atlanta area, the affected sites are 1380 Atlantic Drive NW in Atlanta and 2562 Shallowford Road NE in Chamblee, which both closed last year.
