Elmira Elk's hosts Jukebox Hero Scholarship Fundraiser
ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- On Saturday afternoon. the Elmira Elks Lodge held their annual sock hop fundraiser, aiming to help local college students. The day kicked off with a dunk tank, with the opportunity to buy a chance to dunk a lodge member. Inside the lodge, it was decorated for a 'sock hop' with milkshakes and 50's themed activities. As low pressure passes by to our south, it will keep showers across the region on Friday. Cooler temperatures are expected with highs in the mid-50s. Rainfall could be upwards of 1" by tonight. Scattered showers will continue Friday night along with lows in the lower-40s. Another system makes it way through this weekend with more showers on Saturday and Sunday. Mostly cloudy skies are expected both days with highs in the lower-60s. Fair skies return early next week with highs in the low to mid-70s. The chance for showers cannot be ruled out on Monday and Tuesday along with a few thunderstorms. We will remain in the low to mid-70s on Wednesday and Thursday under partly sunny skies.

Military Scraps Flight Plan Over Pennsylvania Wilds
A proposal to have military aircraft fly low over the Pennsylvania Wilds has been canceled after significant pushback from residents and environmentalists. The proposed Duke Low Military Operations Area would have been in the vicinity of 10 state parks and 395,647 acres of state forests in Cameron, Clinton, McKean, Potter, and Tioga counties, including the dark sky preserve of the Pennsylvania Wilds.
