LINCOLN, Neb. (WANE) – Connor Essegian is changing schools, but he isn’t changing conferences as the Central Noble High School graduate will play the next two seasons at Nebraska after playing his first two years of college basketball at Wisconsin.

Essegian told WANE-TV that Nebraska’s offensive style is the fit he was looking forward, as the Huskers were a prolific three-point shooting team last season. He also noted his connection with Nebraska head coach Fred Hoiberg, who, like Essegian, was a sharp-shooting guard during his days in college and the NBA.

Essegian hit the ground running with the Badgers in his freshman season. The 6-foot-4-inch guard was named to the All-Big Ten Freshman team after averaging 11.7 points on 40.4% shooting and 35.9% from 3-point range. Essegian also set the program record for most 3-pointers made by a freshman with 69.

In his sophomore season, Essegian’s playing time dipped due to several factors, including injuries and the emergence of other players in Wisconsin’s lineup. The guard only played an average of 7.4 minutes per game, down from 27.3 in his freshman season.
