LINJCOLN, ND ( KXNET ) — Lincoln Police Chief Robyn Krile has resigned after nearly five years on the job.
In her resignation letter dated April 21, Krile said, during her tenure, there have been significant public safety improvements and an increase of full-time police officers from five to eight. She also cited adding a school resource/detective officer position, along with equipment and technology upgrades, as positive moves for the Lincoln community.
However, Krile wrote in her letter, “recent directives to eliminate all current and future training opportunities without discussion or clear justification, have placed me in an untenable position.”
Krile said the actions are undermining her ability to address “vital deficiencies in the department” and “pose unacceptable risks to both officer and public safety.”
“I cannot conscionably continue under the imposed constraints that jeopardize our department’s integrity and efficacy,” Krile wrote. “Please consider this letter as my official resignation.”
Krile did not provide details of the “vital deficiencies,” specific risks or types of training opportunities being eliminated.
KX News reached out to Krile for additional information regarding her resignation.
“Due to recent changes in the council that do not align with my philosophy of providing the best possible police department, I have decided to resign,” she said. “I have truly enjoyed my time working with the citizens of Lincoln. They are a phenomenal community. I wish them all the best for the future.”
