11th annual Hofman Memorial Horseshoe Tournament set for July 4
The 11th annual John Hofman Memorial Horseshoe Tournament will be held July 4 at Lincoln’s McBean Park horseshoe pits. Jeff Williams and the McBean/Lincoln Horseshoe Pitching Club are presenting the tournament on behalf of the Native Sons of the Golden West Silver Star Parlor 63. Profits will be donated to the parlor’s scholarship fund and 4th of July Fireworks Fund. Silver Star uses the funds raised through two fundraising events each year for various local projects, including informational plaques on historic sites, scholarships, supporting the Lincoln Area Archives Museum and other community groups, and more.
Roseville fireworks ordinance passed, Houdesheldt says it's not enough
The City of Roseville passed the updated illegal fireworks ordinance at the May 1 City Council meeting. The ordinance was first proposed at a Dec. 17 council meeting, according to a previous Gold Mountain California News Media article. Illegal firework fines were increased to $750 for the first offense, then $1,000, the maximum charge the city can do, for every subsequent offense. Subsequent offenses include separate incidents and the amount of illegal fireworks one possesses. The amended ordinance also removes the initial verbiage in the Roseville Municipal Code that caps a violation at an infraction when a person possesses 25 lbs. or less to allow the violation to be cited as a misdemeanor.
Lincoln implements new record-keeping software
Lincoln’s Clerk’s Office implemented a new record-keeping program for the city’s important documents at the April 23 city council meeting. The city previously used the SIRE system to keep paperless records of meeting minutes, resolutions, ordinances and other important documents. However, SIRE’s parent company, Hyland, announced it would no longer support the system.

At approximately 12:05 a.m., a Rocklin officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop of a vehicle on the 1000 block of Sunset Boulevard.
