(Atlantic) At the 2024 Atlantic High School Class Night on May 9, a 2023 Atlantic High School graduate displayed the true meaning of giving back. Jackson McLaren, who started the Jackson McLaren Scholarship fund with his own money, gave away two $750.00 scholarships to a couple of AHS graduates enrolling in a vocational or trade school.

Riverside Girls Track Continues to Put in All the Effort
(Oakland, IA) – Riverside girl’s track and field has just a few hours left until they are able to put in all their effort in the biggest meet of the season. Just last Thursday, the girls came together and all pushed forward to get their best times and push one another to earn that top spot on the podium. Montgomery County Board of Supervisors Approve Tax Abatements
(Red Oak) On Tuesday morning, the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors approved a request to decrease Red Oak City-owned property taxes. The request concerns five properties at 300 East Market Street, 109 4th Avenue, 818 East Nuckols, 306 Elm Street, and 1210 North 4th Street. County Auditor Jill Ozuna says the City sent a letter to her office stating they have acquired these properties and requested that the taxes be abated.

Gilbert Wins Class 3A Girl’s Region 2 Golf Tournament: Nevada Second (Atlantic Fourth)
(Atlantic) Eden Lohrbach shot a one under par 68 to lead Gilbert to the Class 3A Region 2 Girl’s Golf Tournament title on Wednesday at the Nisha Hills Golf Course in Atlantic. Gilbert shot 299. Nevada advanced to the State Tournament with a runner-up score of 348. Sergent Bluff-Luton finished third with 368, and Atlantic fourth with 370.
Cass County Arrest Report
(Atlantic) The Cass County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests between April 20th and May 7th:. On May 7th, 2024, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office arrested Kisauo Stephen, 37, of Council Bluffs, on a warrant for Failure to Appear. Kisauo was transported to the Cass County Jail where he was booked and held.
Montgomery County Sherriff’s Office Arrest
The Montgomery County Sherriff’s Office arrested 25 year old Cheyenne Marie Haidsiak, of Red Oak early this morning for OWI 1st Offense. Haidsiak was transported to the Montgomery County Jail where she is being held on $1,000 bond.
