Social Studies is an important part of DMS
We have four core subjects here at DMS, and one of them is social studies. Social studies is one of the core subjects here at DMS; everyone has social studies. Justin Pena is one of the social studies teachers here at DMS. He teaches 8th-grade social studies. He said he is excited to teach the class about the Constitution and the colonial era. He said he chose to teach social studies because he always liked it, and it really stuck with him from middle school through High School. He said he is excited to help all the students learn about their rights, like those in the Constitution, because he feels like they need to know all of the rights. He is also excited to teach about the colonial era so the kids know why they separated and what caused everything to happen. He is excited to hear all their questions and to come feel like he’s helping them understand everything more. He is also excited about helping them love social studies like he does. He said social studies was easy for him and most of his school years. HIS second hour is the planning time. where he thinks about what to do with the students at DMS. He said the ms.patterson was his Teacher. “She made a big impact on my life. She helped me learn that I loved social studies.”
