High School Graduations, 2024
AB High School Class of 2024 graduation goes off without a hitch. Students, families and friends gathered on Leary Field on June 7 to celebrate the 407 member Acton-Boxborough Regional High School graduating class of 2024. Principal Joanie Dean recognized graduating students for their resiliency, compassion and positivity, noting that they began their high school careers during the COVID pandemic. Class speakers Tanvi Sistu and Braelyn Valente-Phillips spoke to the uncertainty about the changes and challenges that lay ahead, and retiring teacher, Susan Nugent, offered the traditional sending forth message to the graduates noting, “You don’t have to have your future all figured out. It’s the ongoing nature of figuring things out that makes for an interesting and possibly remarkable life.”

Class of 2024 is off and running, with ‘Dreams’ and ‘I Lived’
Family members, friends, and fellow students began arriving at the field in front of the Bromfield School well before this year’s graduation ceremonies were scheduled to begin. Many carried bright bunches of flowers. A toddler in a red shirt kicked a soccer ball on the grass. Despite some doubtful forecasts, the weather was bright and sunny with a soft breeze—a perfect temperature for the graduates in their robes, if a trifle cool for those in summer clothes.
Civics Fair held at RJ Grey Junior High School
Hundreds of students, parents, and community members gathered last week at a Civics Fair held at RJ Grey Junior High School. Student-led civics projects became part of the State of Massachusetts Junior High and High School curriculum through the enactment of S2631, an act to promote and enhance civic engagement. The Acton-Boxborough school system has integrated the fair into their curriculum in both schools, and last week members of the community were able to see firsthand what students have accomplished.

Bromfield’s middle school students get a lesson in religious tolerance
He sixth-graders at Bromfield’s middle school received a timely message from a panel of three religious leaders on Wednesday, June 5: We are more alike than we are different. The assembly, which took place in the library at the Bromfield School, featured Deacon Court Shields of the Holy Trinity Parish in Harvard, Barbara Sahli of the Islamic Network Group, and Rabbi Jonah Rank of the Rabbinical School for the Deaf and Hearing in Chicago, Illinois, who resides in Massachusetts.
