Lehi, Utah — A mischievous cat named Galena survived a journey across the United States after accidentally getting shipped inside an Amazon return package, reported The Guardian.

The indoor-only cat traveled over 500 miles from Lehi, Utah, to California in a three foot by three foot shipping container, enduring six days without food or water.

Galena was discovered in relatively good shape by an Amazon employee.

Galena's owner, Carrie Clark, realized the cat was missing on April 10 and launched a search effort with the help of family and friends.

A week later, Clark received a notification from Galena's microchip, revealing that the cat had been found in Los Angeles.

Brandy Hunter, an Amazon worker at a California warehouse and self-described "crazy cat lady," informed colleagues that she had found a cat in a return package. Hunter took Galena in for the night and then brought her to a local veterinarian.

When the vet scanned Galena's microchip, the Clarks were immediately notified, and the vet confirmed that Galena was in their care.

Carrie and her husband flew to California to be reunited with Galena. Despite being "much skinnier," Galena was unharmed.

Clark expressed gratitude for the miraculous turn of events and believed that Galena may have climbed into the Amazon box when they were sealing it for return, going unnoticed due to the box's weight.
