LADY LAKE, Fla. — After four years of construction on U.S. 441, people in one Lake County community can hopefully rejoice soon. The Florida Department of Transportation is wrapping up road work to widen U.S. 441 from four to six lanes from Lake Ella Road to Avenida Central in Lady Lake.

Armed road rage suspect admits yelling ‘damn Yankee’ in traffic dispute
An armed road rage suspect was arrested after admittedly yelling “damn Yankee” at an offending fellow motorist during a traffic dispute. James Martin Harris, 54, of Summerfield, was driving a gray Ford Super Duty pickup at about 10 a.m. Monday when he was leaving the Wawa at U.S. 301 and County Road 466 and attempting to merge into traffic, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. He said a vehicle refused to allow him to merge into traffic and enter the roadway.
Man sentenced to life for robbing 97-year-old World War II veteran in Lake County
TAVARES – Jurors Tuesday found a man guilty of beating and robbing a 97-year-old World War II veteran in his home in 2019.
