💜TGIF and Happy Memorial Day weekend!

There's loads of fun stuff to enjoy tonight and this Memorial Day Weekend. Nineties band Nine Days helps kick off the inaugural Corn Festival in Mount Dora tonight, May 24. Consider also paying respect to fallen heroes. The city of Leesburg is planning a Memorial Day service on Saturday (check the weekend guide below for details). On Monday, you can attend a sunrise service beginning at 6:15 a.m. featuring keynote speaker State Rep. Keith Truenow and some words from Rep. Daniel Webster. Takes place at A.W. Peterson Gun Shop, 4255 W. Old US 441, Mount Dora. Details: 407-227-6999.

If you're headed to the beach, springs or going boating, remember that Gov. Ron DeSantis has issued a proclamation for Water Safety Month and Safe Boating Week in Florida .

☝Please note that there will be no Daily Briefing on Monday. We hope your three-day weekend is filled with good times and fond remembrances.

    🎤3 questions with Live Hart

What do you think about the music scene in Central Florida?

Hart: There are obviously two sides to the scene. Like there's the working side of the music scene, and then there's the independent artist side of it, which I was on for many, many years until I was able to figure out how to get into the working side. The independent scene was challenging. It was definitely there, but it wasn't as consistent.

It's been around a decade since you released your last album, " Honesty." What's been going on between now and then?

I've spent those years, you know, really trying to perfect my craft, like learning and just growing and living more life. And right after the Pandemic, I decided that I would like to just go in and start producing some of my own music and just get out some of the things that I had experienced over the years since I put out my first project.

"Stone was the first song out of the trilogy, if you will, that I released back in 2022. It's about when you're in a relationship that just wasn't the same for other person the on their end. ... The next two songs after that are kind of the progression of what happened in that relationship in song form."

Was composing the trilogy and going through those feelings like for you? "I think once you do go through the emotions of a break-up, you try to push it, at least in my own experience. I just try to push it down like I'm okay. Like it's good, no big deal. But then once time goes on, you start to reflect and you're like, am I really okay?"
