Leavenworth theater asking for return of downtown mannequin’s clothing

LEAVENWORTH, Kan. — The Leavenworth Community Theater is asking for the public’s help after someone stole the clothing and hat from its ticket booth mannequin this past weekend.

In a social media post, the theater said “our spiffy and dapper ticket booth gentleman George was attacked over the past weekend.”

The theater said George’s hat was stolen through the ticket pass-thru opening window, along with half of his tear-away tuxedo jacket.

His arm was also torn off, according to the theater.

“As you can imagine, George is quite upset and refuses to discuss it,” the theater continued on their social media post.

The theater is asking for whoever has the clothing and hat or knows where they are, to “please return George to his former glory. No punishment, no questions.”

The historic theater in downtown Leavenworth maintained by the City of Leavenworth Parks and Recreation Department .

The two-and-a-half story concrete building was constructed in 1937 and 1938 on the corner of Delaware and S 5th streets . It was listed in the Register of Kansas Historic Places in 1984 and the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.
