Dear Heloise: I’m one of those people who always runs out of things. I start to make a cake and forget that I’m out of eggs. I go to make a dessert that calls for chocolate, only to discover there’s no chocolate in the house. I go to the grocery store and come home, having forgotten we’re out of paper towels!

Isolated showers and storms this evening, skies becoming clear after midnight
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Today turned out to be a rather pleasant day as we saw more sunshine than previously anticipated. There have been some scattered showers and thunderstorms that have developed over the Sandhills this afternoon thanks to a surface trough and the heat of the day. As you head farther south this activity appears to be more isolated in nature. All of this will push southeast through the evening. So an isolated shower or thunderstorm is not out of the question before sunset. While we are not expecting any severe storms, a few of these storms could end up becoming briefly strong with 40 to 50 MPH wind gusts and some small hail.
